Jeffrey Wasserstrom is a Distinguished Professor of History at UC Irvine. His most recent books are 'Vigil: Hong Kong on the Brink' and 'The Milk Tea Alliance: Inside Asia’s Struggle Against Autocracy and Beijing', short volumes published by Columbia Global Reports in 2020 and 2025, respectively. He is writing a trade book on Orwell and Asia for Princeton University Press.
