M. Antoni J. Ucerler, S.J. is Director of the Ricci Institute of Chinese-Western Cultural History and Associate Professor of East Asian Studies, Boston College. He is also a Fellow of East Asian Studies at Campion Hall, University of Oxford. His research interests include Japanese samurai history, the history of Christianity in Japan and China, and the era of European maritime empires.
