David Abulafia is Emeritus Professor of Mediterranean History at Cambridge University, a Fellow of the British Academy and winner of the Wolfson History Prize for 2020. His many books include Frederick II (1988), The Discovery of Mankind (2008), The Great Sea (2011) and The Boundless Sea (2019).
