Dick Harrison is Professor of History at Lund University. He was editor of Norstedts’ eight-volume history of Sweden (Sveriges Historia 2009–13) and co-host of the accompanying TV4 series. His books include The Early State and the Towns (1993), about urban infrastructure in early medieval Italy; Gud vill det! (2005), about the Scandinavian crusades; and Slaveri: en världshistoria om ofrihet (2006–08), a world history of slavery. His latest work, Ett stort lidande har kommit över oss (2014) is a history of the Thirty Years’ War, based on eyewitness accounts.
