Francis J. Gavin is the Giovanni Agnelli Distinguished Professor and the Director of the Henry A. Kissinger Center for Global Affairs at SAIS-Johns Hopkins University. He is the author of Thinking Historically: A Guide to Statecraft and Strategy (Yale, 2025).
