John Nilsson-Wright is Associate Professor of Japanese Politics and International Relations at the Faculty of Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and Head of the Japan and Koreas Programme at the Centre for Geopolitics, University of Cambridge. A graduate of Oxford University and SAIS, Johns Hopkins he is the author of Unequal Allies: United States Security and Alliance Policy towards Japan, 1945-1960 (Stanford University Press, 2005) and a number of books dealing with the politics and international relations of Northeast Asia. He was previously head of the Asia Programme at Chatham House.
