Kiran Klaus Patel is a German-British historian. He is the a Chair of the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich. Previously, he was Professor of European and Global History at the University of Maastricht, a Professor of History at the European University Institute in Florence (2007–11) and an Assistant Professor at Humboldt University in Berlin (2002–07). He has been a Kennedy Fellow at the Center for European Study at Harvard, a visiting professor at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris and a senior visiting fellow at the Universities of Oxford, Freiburg and the Free University in Berlin. His most recent book is The Cultural Politics of Europe (2013).
