Matthías Aron Ólafsson is a PhD candidate at the Department of History, Trinity College Dublin, funded by a Trinity Research Doctorate Award. He has previously worked in policy research for the Icelandic Ministry of Foreign Affairs and as a specialist at the National Library of Iceland. His current research examines governance and policymaking in the Danish Oldenburg Empire, focusing on how the crown responded to disorder and socioeconomic distress in its global peripheries through royal investigative commissions during the long 18th century.
