Pratinav Anil teaches European and World History at St Edmund Hall, University of Oxford and reviews frequently for the Times and the Guardian. He is a judge on this year's Baillie Gifford Prize. His books, 'India's First Dictatorship: The Emergency, 1975 -1977' (2020) and 'Another India: The Making of the World's Largest Muslim Minority, 1947-77' (2023), explore twentieth-century Indian history.
