Russell Jacoby is the author of numerous books from Social Amnesia: A Critique of Conformist Psychology (1975) to The Last Intellectuals: American Culture in the Age of Academe (1987). He teaches history at UCLA, specializing in twentieth-century cultural and intellectual history.
