Ruth Watson is an Associate Professor in African History at the University of Cambridge and a fellow of Clare College. She is the author of ‘Civil Disorder is the Disease of Ibadan’: Chieftaincy and Civic Culture in a Yoruba City and several articles on the life of Akinpelu Obisesan. Her current project is a study of crowds in world history.
