Andrew Mumford is a Professor of War Studies in the School of Politics and International Relations at the University of Nottingham, UK. He is the author of four books, including Proxy Warfare (2013). His latest book, The West’s War Against Islamic State, was published in 2021. He is the editor of the Bloomsbury book series ‘Studies in Contemporary Warfare’ and is on the Executive Board of the British International Studies Association.
