Jack Dickens

Jack Dickens is Commissioning Editor at Engelsberg Ideas. He is an historian and journalist with a particular interest in the geopolitics of Europe and the Middle East. He read History at Trinity College, Cambridge, and has a master’s degree in Modern Middle Eastern Studies from the University of Oxford. His undergraduate dissertation examined the evolution of French republicanism at the time of the French and Haitian Revolutions and was awarded the Society for the Study of French History’s dissertation prize. His more recent work looks at the history of Europe's relations with the Ottoman Empire, Anglo-American geopolitical competition in the Middle East after 1945, and the emergence of the Arab Cold War.
