Lucy Riall

Lucy Riall is Professor of the History of Europe in the World at the European University Institute in Florence. She was previously Professor of History at Birkbeck, University of London and has held visiting positions at the École Normale Supérieure Paris, the Free University Berlin, the University of Freiburg and the University of California at Berkeley. Her publications include Garibaldi: invention of a hero; Risorgimento: the history of Italy from Napoleon to nation state, and Under the Volcano: revolution in a Sicilian town.
