Mikael Wigel is programme director of global security at the Finnish Institute of International Affairs, Helsinki. He earned his doctorate at the London School of Economics and has been a visiting fellow at the Changing Character of War Centre, Oxford University. He is a former president of the Finnish International Studies Association and his latest book is as co-editor of the volume Geo-economics and Power Politics in the 21st Century: the revival of economic statecraft.
